In specific cases where a synthetic graft cannot be used an autologous alternative is mandatory. Veins (femoral), cryopreserved allografts (if available) are common substitutes. What is another option? A custom-made graft by bovine pericardium. See below.

The material is provided as a plaque of various dimensions, in our case 10 by 15 cm. A tube is constructed by suturing the two ends of the graft, using as a scaffold a 20 ml disposable syringe.

The graft is then sutured in a standard way. In this case, a patient suffering by a mycotic juxtarenal aortic aneurysm was treated.
